A peony from Dad- unfortunately, this one has bugs now, so, that's my latest battle
I like plants a lot. I love it that a plant can look dead and 3 weeks later be sprouting tender new green shoots. I love to see what it takes to coax life back into one (or if it just needs to be ignored for a while). Maybe because I grew up on a farm I've always loved growing things. My dad always pointed out to us all the farming metaphors in the Bible and told us that plants need to be dormant (a state which looks like death) regularly in order to grow. This insight has helped me a lot over the years. People (even I) am a lot like that too. We have ups and downs in our lives. Sometimes it may seem that someone has stopped growing or that there is no longer hope for a particular situation. But then, miraculously, and yet naturally, growth occurs.
In Macau, I have to make use of the space that I've got to grow things- my house. Here are some photos of the recently
"resurrected" plants on my porch who've begun to show signs of life, and also some plants that my dad gave me money for before they left Macau.
No leaves- and then three weeks later..presto!

I like your plants. I like your pictures of plants. I like you.
