On Being a Child

Flying back from London there was a little girl seated between her mom and a middle-aged representative from Case, the tractor company. They were headed to Chicago and then on their way to Mexico. While dozing in and out of sleep I saw the gentleman begin to play peek-a-boo with this little girl with whom he could not communicate. After much gleeful giggling, she decided to try to play with herself. She cracked up whenever she took the hand off of her own eyes-delighted by the interplay of light and dark.

Little girl, like you I want to:

-trust with simplicity--even those you don't know
-to play with sincerity- not as a grown-up who thinks life= work
-to show my emotions genuinely  and not try to disguise them to appear mature
-to be myself in the moment- no tricks or games with others...to be all there

The kingdom of heaven belongs to those like you!
